Dr. Rolf Dahlems

Dr. Rolf Dahlems has a university degree in Mechanical Engineering (Diplom-Ingenieur) and a PhD in Economics (Dr. rer. pol.); Technical University Dortmund / University of Cologne.

Following his career start in strategic consulting he managed the office of the Chairman of the Board of the Rheinmetall group, responsible for corporate planning and reporting. Subsequently he had a management function in finance for the subsidiary WMF AG.

At the end of 1984 he returned to consulting at Heidrick & Struggles. Here, he was Managing Partner and Regional Head Germany.

Since 1990 he has been Managing Partner at Signium International, Duesseldorf.

His consulting focus in Executive Recruiting for 1st and 2nd management levels lies in the following segments:


Industrial Companies

Thanks to his academic background in engineering and business as well as his leadership experience Dr. Dahlems has an exceptionally deep understanding of the concerns / needs of the global manufacturing industry. For more than two decades he has been a trusted advisor to international corporations and midsized companies.

His extensive experience covers a wide spectrum of products and processes including plant machinery and equipment, electrotechnology, systems for regenerative energy, metal manufacturing and processing, casting, glas, ceramics, building materials, components for  the automobile, machine and process technology industries, agricultural machines and technology, heating and cooling technology, technical textiles and electronic components.


Consumer Goods

As far back as his period in the management team at WMF Dr. Dahlems has been confronted with issues in the consumer goods segment. Over more than 20 years his services have been retained by clients in fast moving consumer goods and consumer durables.

Private Companies

Dr. Dahlems advises several privately owned companies. Over the years he has become a much sought, trustworthy and successful partner for private companies and their families by virtue of his particularly individual and sensitive approach to the specific requirements of this sector.

Women in Management

The initiative „100 women in Advisory Boards“ has been up and running since 2009. In the meantime Dr. Dahlems has established a database of female managers, a large majority of whom have been personally interviewed and assessed by him. All of said managers have such an impressive track record and successful career development history that they would be viable candidates for board and/or C-level positions in companies of varying size. The database boasts more than 200 successful profiles and is growing and developing on an ongoing basis.



Supervisory and Advisory Boards

Modern companies are increasingly taking a more focused and disciplined approach to selecting supervisory and advisory board members with a view to optimizing professionalism and quality. Dr. Dahlems offers the following service: 

1. Systematic analysis of individual existing board members as well as team constellation.

2. Development of a “model” board for the business entity and identification of “grey” areas.

3. Search and evaluation for ideal candidates from a proprietary database of personal business contacts supported by a tried and tested search process.

4. Particular focus on and promotion of diversity in board structures: raise the percentage of female and non-national members through highly qualified candidates.
